Do your plans for 2015 include adventure travel? Your first stop should be a night in London this weekend, basing yourself at Strand Palace Hotel for a visit to Olympia. Here you can start dreaming, or get planning, and turn New Year’s resolutions into reality. The Adventure Travel Show on 17 and 18 January is the UK’s only event focused solely on travelling off the beaten track, and it brings together the biggest collection of adventure travel companies in the industry.
Whether you’re interested in adventures underwater or on the water, or by road, snow or trail, the Adventure Travel Show’s combination of operators, free talks and seminars, as well as its inspiring travel film festival, will launch you on your journey.
The event offers a chance to make contact with exhibitors including safari organisers, activity specialists, rail companies, small aircraft, helicopter and balloon operators, as well as wedding and honeymoon specialists, and accommodation providers. The Nomad travel clinic will even be at the show for travel vaccinations and anti-malarials so you have no excuse not to get going immediately.
Inspirational talks and seminars
Take advantage of over 100 free talks on topics ranging from ‘Escape your Smartphone’ to ‘DIY Kilimanjaro’ and ‘The Afghan Ski Challenge’. Seize your chance to hear advice from the best in the business, including Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Monty Halls.
The dedicated Discover Africa space hosts talks on countries from Botswana to Morocco, and in other theatres you can hear the tales of travellers who have challenged themselves around the world, by kayak, motorcycle and on foot, from Antarctica to Mongolia, Iceland to New Zealand, Peru to Pakistan.
The seminar programme is just as motivating, offering tips on travel photography, making money from your travels through writing and producing effective adventure films.
