We’ve been spoilt with a fantastic summer of sport this year with highlights including the England international Rugby Test Series, Queens, Euro 2016 and most recently a second UK Wimbledon win for our hero Andy Murray.
Looking ahead to what’s next, we’re getting ready for Olympics mania in Rio but we’re delighted to see that London will be celebrating the legacy of the 2012 Olympics with their own Anniversary Games, taking place at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this weekend.
Playing host to the prestigious IAAF Diamond League meet in the setting of East London’s iconic Olympic Park where the magic of London 2012 still lingers, a variety of global stars will put the final touches to their Olympic dreams tonight. Fastest man on the planet and current world record holder Usain Bolt will also grace the tracks and take part in his last pre-Olympic event.
Based just 30 minutes via tube from Stratford, the Strand Palace Hotel provides the perfect place from which to base a pre-Olympic jaunt to London. For those not lucky enough to get their hands on the coveted tickets, the Anniversary Games and later the Olympics themselves, will be played at The Nook Sports Bar. Home to three large screens with a variety of draught beers, wines and cocktails, there’s no better place in the capital to watch the drama of the world’s oldest competition unfold.
