Hotel near Leicester Square

Visit Leicester Square

The Strand Palace Hotel is situated just a few minutes’ walk from the hustle and bustle of Leicester Square – London’s centre of showbiz. With a broad range of cosy rooms, it’s the ideal place to stay with entertainment on your doorstep.

Leicester Square is in the City of Westminster borough, and part of the capital’s famous Soho area. Only a few minutes from these transport links, The Strand Palace Hotel gives you access to all sorts of entertainment, including the great theatres of the West End, and the bars and restaurants of Covent Garden.

Named after Leicester House, the city seat of Robert Sidney, 2nd Earl of Leicester, the square is light years from the languid sprawl of fields it once was. Leicester Square is festooned on every side with cinemas, neon signs, hotels and other attractions.

Leicester Square Highlights

Leicester Square includes everything you expect from modern-day entertainment – cinemas galore line the square, interspersing the numerous pavement cafés. The Empire, the Odeon, and for more esoteric treats, the Prince Charles Cinema are part of the glamour, not least when the red carpets are rolled out for premieres – this is where films are launched in London, one every week of the year.

There’s a brilliant selection of arts and live performances, including the widely renowned 99 Comedy Club which features acts from hit television panel shows and stand-up comedians. And once more, it’s within a very short commute of the Strand Palace Hotel.

If it’s the theatre you’ve come to see, then Leicester Square is one of the places to be in Central London.
