Daawat Indian Restaurant

Chef Asharaf Valappil wins Best Chef at the Curry Life Awards 2016

We are SO PROUD of our Head Chef Asharaf Valappil who has won Best Chef at the Curry Life Awards 2016. At the ceremony he thanked his whole Strand Palace team, and said he looked forward to creating many more authentic dishes to suit every dining occasion.  With Diwali coming later this month, we’re very excited to see and taste his new menus.

Daawat recently featured in London Metro, Samantha Rae writes:

“The Chilli Mili Chicken Wings were not only tasty, they also cleared my sinuses – a herd of elephants in Africa thought I was sending them a mating call. My lamb biryani was sealed over with pastry and breaking into it was as satisfying as puncturing the seal on a tube of Pringles. The peshwari naan – and I class myself as a connoisseur of nothing, if not a peshwari naan – was beautiful. There’s pork on the menu – which you may not find in every Indian restaurant, and the staff are lovely. It’s in easy distance of Charing Cross, and well worth dropping in before catching a train home.”

Daawat Indian Restaurant has a bright red entrance on Burleigh St, as well as direct access through the main hotel foyer.

Keralan Head Chef, Asharaf Valappil, cooks authentic Indian cuisine using three tandoor ovens. The whole team invites you to enjoy their ‘Daawat’ experience, meaning ‘Indian Feast.’
