Haven’t managed to get a ticket for this year’s RWC matches? Don’t panic! As well as being close to the official fanzone on Trafalgar Square, we’re a stone’s throw from some of London’s most buzzing sports pubs – which makes catching all the action easy, and adds a big dose of atmosphere too. The Trafalgar Square fanzone won’t be broadcasting live matches, so we recommend soaking up some atmosphere there, then heading to one of these choices, or to our own The Nook bar on Burleigh Street…
This landmark Fullers’ pub makes a big deal of its sports coverage, and rightly so. Expect multiple big-screen TVs, clear sound, and a full roster of the west London brewery’s beers, including the world-famous London Pride. If you get hungry, it does top-notch pies too. Find it on the corner of New Row and Garrick Street, just over five minutes’ walk from Strand Palace.
If you prefer a US-style sports bar to a traditional pub, head to Belushi’s. Sure, the pictures on the walls may be of baseball stadiums, but the big-screen TVs regularly show British sports, and will be in full effect during the RWC. Tex-mex and burgers are the order of the day on the food menu. Find it on Russell Street, just a few blocks from us.
Closest of all is our own bar on Burleigh Street, which be showing RWC matches as part of its regular programme of live TV sports. With a range of draught and bottled beers, an extensive cocktail menu and a long list of classic and lesser-known gins, we’ll keep you refreshed as well as entertained.
You can’t strictly watch matches here, but it’s an essential Covent Garden stop-off for any rugby fan this summer. The pop-up store is in the heart of Covent Garden Market, and stocks all the RWC merchandise you could want, from team shirts to the official tournament guidebook.
