This month, it’s War Horse.
About the show
This heart-wrenching story based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo follows the life of young Albert’s treasured horse, who, at the outbreak of World War One, is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France. The extraordinary journey of the horse, Joey, sees him caught up in enemy fire, serving on both sides, before finding himself alone in no man’s land. Still on his parents’ Devon farm, Albert does not forget Joey and heads off on his own perilous mission to bring his horse home.
Perfectly adapted with stirring music, powerful scripts and intense drama, this is a particularly unforgettable piece of theatre, and is currently playing at the New London Theatre. The incredible life-sized horses, created by Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, are the most impressive part of the production, bringing the beautiful animals to life on stage.
