Green Key

Strand Palace proudly announces its attainment of the prestigious Green Key accreditation for the second consecutive year, reflecting our steadfast dedication to sustainable hospitality practices. This international environmental accolade underscores Strand Palace’s unwavering commitment to eco-friendly Go Green policies, translating our principles into tangible, positive impacts.

The Green Key certification sets the benchmark for excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainable operations within the tourism sector. Our establishment underwent rigorous evaluation against stringent standards set by the global Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), endorsed by the World Tourism Organization and the UN Environment Programme. The assessment covered 130 imperative criteria across 13 categories, including staff involvement, guest information, and sustainable management of energy, waste, water, cleaning products, and food and drinks. In our second year, we exceeded expectations by meeting an additional 5 guideline criteria.

Strand Palace pledges to persist in our efforts to forge a more environmentally friendly future for the hospitality industry, consistently upholding the Green Key accreditation.

FuturePlus

FuturePlus, our chosen sustainability management and reporting platform, empowers us to comprehend, measure, and enhance our impact and goals. Aligned with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, FuturePlus serves as a guiding force for Strand Palace's sustainability aspirations.

Collaborating with FuturePlus, we have undergone a comprehensive evaluation across five key themes: Climate, Environment, Social, Economic, and Diversity and Inclusion. The FuturePlus framework provides a forward-looking perspective on what constitutes a sustainable business.

Our commitment to sustainability has evolved into a holistic hotel-wide initiative and competition under the banner of FuturePlus. Launched in late 2023, this initiative sees our 13 departments organized into five teams, each tasked with completing eight projects over the next 12 months. These projects contribute to compiling evidence aimed at enhancing our FuturePlus score. Teams receive prizes for each completed project, and their progress is diligently recorded on team project boards. Notably, Housekeeping and Front Office are currently leading with one successfully signed-off project.'
